Pretty Timekeeper

image

This addition has been in my accessories collection for a couple of months now. I call it a timekeeper because ‘watch’ or ‘clock’ simply doesn’t suit it. I think ‘timekeeper’ goes with it’s vintage charm better, so ‘timekeeper’ it shall be.

I bought my gem from a stall at Clothes Show Live and I wore my timekeeper the minute I bought it. Until that moment I never realized how handy watches are! When I want to know the time, I look at my phone, which is usually deep in my bag under all the things I don’t need but are there just in case. But now, I can simply look down and there it is! I’m not keen on watches as I find them clumpy and awkward, but this is just perfect.

The best part about this trinket is that it goes with nearly every outfit! I wear a lot of dark colours, so it’s ideal. My only regret is that I didn’t buy more!

diversity project

This year, one of my modules required me to create a garment for a diverse model. Pictured is my sister and diverse model, Llinos.

It was pretty awkward designing a garment for Llinos. She has recently suffered from Scoliosis and has a very prominent curvature, so clothes lie quite skeewiff on her back. That’s why I decided to create a very loose-fitting top. The colours of the fabric had to be pretty vibrant, because Llinos has quite a vibrant personality! As for her hair, it was left as we found it due to a model tantrum in the dressing room.. but I think it worked great!

I took quite a while editing the photos, but finally settled on a 3D effect to bring out the bright colours of the viscose fabric. I had to leave the image above on a black and white filter as the seventies vibes coming from it were just too tempting and it went too well with the hair style, while also giving off a hint of innocence.

Ar gyfer un modiwl blyddyn yma, roedd rhaid i mi creu gwisg ar gyfer model ‘diverse’. Yn y lluniau, mae fy chwaer a model i, Llinos.

Roedd creu gwisg ar gyfer Llinos braidd yn anodd, gan ei bod hi wedi dioddef o Scoliosis yn ddiweddar felly mae ganddi gamedd mawr yn ei chefn sy’n gwneud i ddillad orwedd yn letchwith ar ei chefn. Dyma pan wnes i benderfynnu creu top eithaf llac. Roedd rhaid i liwiau’r defnydd fodyn lachar iawn, er mwyn efelychu ei phersonoliaeth! O ran gwallt, doedd dim modd gwneud dim oherwydd stranc yn yr ystafell wisgo.. Ond dwi’n meddwl ei fod yn gweithio’n eitha’ da!

Treuliais dyddia’ yn golygu’r lluniau, ond yn y diwedd wnes i aros gyda effaith 3D er mwyn rhoi pwyslais ar lliwiau’r defnydd.

things that make me smile #1 – sneaky photos

image

My little sister has a habit of stealing my phone and taking sneaky pictures. Although they clog up my phone memory, I love looking at what she’s captured and picking out the hidden gems, like this picture of my boyfriend and I.

Of course, some sneaky pictures are not appreciated as much, like nostrils and feet close ups!

Mae gan fy chwaer fach tuedd i ddwyn fy ffon a tynnu lluniau slei. Er eu bod yn llenwi’r cof, dwi’n hoffi edrych ar beth mae hi wedi ei dynnu a pigo allan y goreuon, fel y llun yma o fi a ‘nghariad.

Wrth gwrs, dydi pob llun ddim yn cael ei werthfawrogi gymaint, fel lluniau agos o ffroenau a traed!

Big Sister Tip #3 – Keep Going

This week Cari and I climbed to the top of Holyhead Mountain, and both of us learned an under-rated life lesson; just keep going.

While we got lost several times, took the wrong paths and had no idea if we were even close to the peak, we made it. We pushed each other along. I was spurred on by the idea of teaching Cari that, in any situation, if you give up you will never know what you might have experienced and eventually, we made it.

The view of our island can’t be put into words. Seeing the place we grew up from up high was so worth the long walk in the rare hot sun.

Big Sister Tip #3: Just keep going. When you’ve worked so so hard for something, ask yourself if it really is worth giving up? Could you be just around the corner from reaching you goal?

And smile, always.
