Buddug

Gwelais darn o emwaith Buddug am y tro cyntaf mewn Eisteddfod blwyddyn dwytha’, a roeddwn i wrth fy modd efo’r steil unigryw a’r prydferthwch syfrdanol. Felly, prynais darn bach fel anrheg i mam, mwclis calon gyda ‘Cariad’ arni.

Yn wreiddiol o Ogledd Cymru, mae Buddug bellach yn byw yn Llundain, wedi mynychu’r Brif Ysgol yno. Mae ei busnes bellach yn 10 mlwydd oed, ac mae’n mynd o nerth i nerth!

Defnyddiai techneg enamel i greu’r gemwaith, ac yn ol ei gwefan, mae Buddug yn toddi gwydr ar gopr, arian neu dur. Mae hi’n defnyddio haenau gwahanol, ac yn naddu’r dyluniad i fewn i’r haenau.

Beth am edrych ar wefan Buddug i gael golwg ar ei siop?

The first time I saw one of Buddug’s pieces was at an Eisteddfod last year, and I loved the unique rustic style and the stunning beauty they possessed. So, I just had to buy one for my mother, a heart necklace with ‘Cariad’, meaning Love in Welsh.

Originally from North Wales, Buddug now lives in London, having attended University there. Her business is now 10 years old!

Why not have a look at her online shop?

LFW – J JS Lee

Since finishing her studies at Central Saint Martins, receiving an MA in Womenswear, Jacke JS Lee has showcased many collections at London Fashion Week. I always look forward to seeing her newest designs, and today was no exception.

Eagerly awaiting by my laptop with the live stream on full screen, I think back on how her past collections have served as inspiration for me. I love how she can only use a select colour palette time after time, yet deliver something new.

As the room fell dark and silent, the first model entered. With a pixie bowl hairstyle and the classic red lip, the first outfit of LFW did not disapoint.

A persistent feature in this collection was a draw-string effect, which I loved! Gorgeous pale pink fur also graced the catwalk, with the odd shocking pink feature on the dark, black garments.

Pretty Timekeeper

image

This addition has been in my accessories collection for a couple of months now. I call it a timekeeper because ‘watch’ or ‘clock’ simply doesn’t suit it. I think ‘timekeeper’ goes with it’s vintage charm better, so ‘timekeeper’ it shall be.

I bought my gem from a stall at Clothes Show Live and I wore my timekeeper the minute I bought it. Until that moment I never realized how handy watches are! When I want to know the time, I look at my phone, which is usually deep in my bag under all the things I don’t need but are there just in case. But now, I can simply look down and there it is! I’m not keen on watches as I find them clumpy and awkward, but this is just perfect.

The best part about this trinket is that it goes with nearly every outfit! I wear a lot of dark colours, so it’s ideal. My only regret is that I didn’t buy more!

things that make me smile #1 – sneaky photos

image

My little sister has a habit of stealing my phone and taking sneaky pictures. Although they clog up my phone memory, I love looking at what she’s captured and picking out the hidden gems, like this picture of my boyfriend and I.

Of course, some sneaky pictures are not appreciated as much, like nostrils and feet close ups!

Mae gan fy chwaer fach tuedd i ddwyn fy ffon a tynnu lluniau slei. Er eu bod yn llenwi’r cof, dwi’n hoffi edrych ar beth mae hi wedi ei dynnu a pigo allan y goreuon, fel y llun yma o fi a ‘nghariad.

Wrth gwrs, dydi pob llun ddim yn cael ei werthfawrogi gymaint, fel lluniau agos o ffroenau a traed!

Big Sister Tip #2 – There’s always one..

image

Or shall we say, two. The two who cause Cari to run straight to bed after school and hide her head under her pillow, refusing to talk for the remainder of the evening.

I’ve realised that, in whatever I’ve done or in the choices I’ve made, there was always one person trying to get me down. As I matured, I learned to ignore these negatives and learned that if I had listened to them, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Where I am now is the best I could ever ask for.

Explaining this to Cari was hard because these two have had such an effect on Cari’s young sponge-like mind. Yes, it’s frustraiting, but I know one day she will grow up and realise that these type of people don’t deserve her acknowledgement. And if I can do anything to make that day come sooner, I will, no matter how many sisterly talks I have to go through.

Big Sister Tip #2: There’s always one who’s going to do their best to make you feel inferior. Eventually, you will realise that they are the ones who don’t deserve to know you.

If you want to fly, let go of the things that keep you down!

And smile, always.

Big Sister Tip #1 – Do You!

Little sister Ela has been nagging for ages for a trip to the hairdressers to cut a fringe (My offer for a free trim wasn’t tempting I guess…). Her persistence was slightly irritating. So, her wish was Mummy’s command and within an hour she was sat satisfied on the sofa with her new fringe perfectly framing her cutely chubby face.

The image of satisfaction faded after a while (a while being 20 mins), and a single melodramatic tear proved that the inevitable had happened: She didn’t want a fringe any more. And her reason being ‘people won’t like it in school’.

This shocked me, to say the least. My 8 year old little sister was already fearing what others think of her. This just isn’t right.

At her age, I lived outside. Constantly in the park, all grubby and muddy, not giving a damn what others thought of me. Ela shouldn’t be feeling pressured by others to look like what they wanted her to look.

So I sat her down for a sisterly chat, and wiped her tears.

Big Sister Tip #1 : Do you. If you can’t be you, who else can you be? You’re imperfectly unique and special. Those who truly love you will accept you no matter what you look like.

And smile, always.
